Elo R&D and IP message

MILPITAS, Calif — Jan. 31, 2019 — As a leading innovator in the touch industry, with a global patent portfolio of nearly 400 patents, Elo is committed to protecting its investments in R&D and vigorously defending its intellectually property rights.

Elo’s configurability and unified architecture enables retailers to deliver engaging in-store experiences

In 2018, 3M Company filed suit in Delaware claiming that metal mesh conductor technology used in a small number of Elo products infringe certain US patents. Elo defended itself vigorously against these claims, challenging both the patents’ validity and whether any of Elo’s products actually infringe.  3M and Elo have now settled this lawsuit. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Elo and 3M have resolved this matter and, as expected, there are no resulting changes to Elo's product line. said Craig Witsoe, CEO.
