October 2025 Maintenance Release for Android 14 Devices

On October 15th, 2025, Elo will release new OS updates for the I-Series 5 and Backpack 5 devices running Android 14. These updates include feature enhancements and bug fixes to improve device performance and usability. The update will be available for download through the EloView cloud portal as dropdown and default OTA updates, and through OEMConfig as manual and auto OTA updates. In addition to feature enhancements and bug fixes this release delivers feature parity with the previous I-Series 4.0 Android 12 release (6.000.019.0028+p, March 2025).

New features and enhancements:

  • Added support for the SCO Bluetooth profile for high-quality voice.
  • Added a PreStage parameter to auto-grant USB permissions during provisioning.
  • Added a screensaver app option for multi-app mode to keep displays engaged.
  • Enhanced the EloView migration app to configure Wi-Fi and auto-connect after factory reset.
  • Added Peripheral Connect support for the Rongta RP326 printer.
  • Added the ability to enable/disable hotspot settings for additional security.
  • Added support for Gboard on secondary displays.
  • Added the ability to adjust device DPI from the EloView Portal.
  • Added USB device details in the Peripheral Configurations tab.
  • Added USB port management for Z20 Gen 2 stands.
  • Added compatibility with adaptive 802.11r Wi-Fi networks.

  • Improved navigation bar behavior for a steadier kiosk experience.
  • Improved enterprise Wi-Fi configuration on Android 14.
  • Improved delayed content deployment so it resumes seamlessly when devices come online.
  • Improved detection of docking state changes for better app behavior.
  • Improved the custom PoE Settings APK for targeted deployments.
  • Improved NFC light control and SDK documentation.
  • Improved camera mapping to ensure the built-in camera is identified accurately.
  • Improved scanner management to avoid conflicts with third-party apps using Zebra SDK.
  • Improved the EloViewHome SDK 2.0 Test App UI for clarity and usability.
  • Improved migration to I-Series 5.0 and Backpack 5.0 with EloViewHome SDK 2.0.
  • Resolved a UI issue with on-screen keyboard appearance.
  • Resolved WebView update issues that caused black screens.
  • Resolved external-display orientation and scaling issues on Backpack 5.0.
  • Resolved a blue error screen when content failed to load, improving reliability.
  • Disabled the IME switcher icon by default for a cleaner UX.

As always, your devices will never prompt for an update or auto-update. Once the update is available, devices can be updated from the EloView Portal or at the device-level from the EloView Control Panel. Other MDM users can leverage Auto and Manual Update feature of Elo OEMConfig to update the devices.
